Frequently Asked Questions

You can lease your solar panel system panels by signing Truly Solar’s (TS) Power Purchase
Agreement (PPA). You must have a minimum credit score of 650 to qualify for the 20 – 25year free
solar system lease.

1) The Government is encouraging transition to solar energy by providing tax credits and Solar
Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs). They provide investors an incentive to finance solar system
installations. 2) You pay Truly Solar a lower rate (typically 20 – 30%) than you’d pay your local utility company
for the electricity generated by the solar panels TS installs on your roof. 3) Any electricity produced by those
panels that you don’t use, flows into the national electricity grid generating additional income. Those 3 factors
combined, allows Truly Solar to install and maintain your solar panel system at no out of pocket cost to you.

Yes, TS can provide no money out of pocket solar panel installation for commercial business, but we can only do so in States where the tax credits and Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) are high
enough to attract funding from investors. The tax credits and Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) provided in Washington DC are especially generous. As a result, Truly Solar is able to install solar systems on commercial businesses in DC with no out of pocket expense AND totally eliminate the company’s electricity bill.

TS analyzes your current electricity bill to determine your past usage. Because electricity usage varies
month to month – highest in the winter and summer months – knowing your usage for a full year enables TS to calculate the number of panels required meet your need and project how much money you will save.

TS can’t know exactly how much anyone will save until their past usage has been analyzed and their
system is installed, but the savings typically range between 20 and 30% from month to month.

No, more often than not, having solar on your roof will actually increase the lifespan of the roof because
the panels protect the roof from outside elements such as snow, rain, sleet, etc. If your roof is less than 12 to 15 years old, there shouldn’t be a problem, but before TS installs panels, an expert will examine your roof to make sure it has at least 10-15 years of life remaining. TS also offers a 10 year roof penetration warranty. If the roof does not have at least 10-15 years of life remaining, TS will not put panels on your roof

Any damage incurred within the first 10 years is covered by TS’s 10year warranty. Damage occurring
after the 10year warranty expires, will not be covered by Truly Solar.

You can get a “ground mount” if you have enough space to accommodate the minimum 15KW
system. The panels must be located 100 feet from your house. Ground mounts are installed under a contract agreement by Sunrun or Sunnova.

Every electronic device emits EMR. There hasn’t been sufficient evidence to indicate solar panels emit
harmful radiation. The US has established standards of safety for EMR emissions by electrical equipment.  These standards apply to the solar panels and inverters TS installs.

TS designs your solar system based on your electricity consumption analysis. Panels can’t be added
to your system after it’s installed. TS provides an 85% production guarantee. If your solar system produces less than 85% of the electricity we projected, TS will refund the shortfall in production.

Truly Solar’s PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) guarantees: TS installs, monitors and maintains your
solar system with no out of pocket cost to you. TS constantly monitors your solar panel system’s performance via our online app and will notify you immediately if something goes wrong. TS also provides a 10year roof penetration warranty.

Solar panels have an expectancy of 30 years or more. Truly Solar will maintain and monitor your
systems for the full term of your PPA service agreement.

If you move within the 25year agreement period, the agreement is completely transferable.

Options: 1) You can purchase the systems at Fair Market Value after five years; 2) You can prepay the
agreement (pay for the energy in advance). 3) You can purchase your system for the fair market value at the end of the 25year agreement.

It’s the customer’s responsibility to make sure trees are trimmed so the solar panels have sufficient sun
exposure. No sun – no electricity generated – no savings.

Yes. Your solar system will provide most of the power your home needs. During cloudy or foggy days,
there will be low production and at night, the system does not produce electricity. If you have a storage battery connected to your solar system, you can receive power from the battery when your solar panels aren’t producing electricity; thereby reducing the amount of power you need to draw and pay for from the power grid (your electric company). You can buy a Tesla wall storage battery system, but that cost is not covered under your PPA agreement with Truly Solar

You will receive a 1099. NOTE: In addition, I (Dr Charles) will pay you a rebate when your solar system is installed and when
3 the people you refer have their solar system installed by TS. The size of your rebate will be determined by the size of the solar system installed.
